Best editorial practices

TECNIA is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal that publishes research articles semiannually. It adheres to and promotes the best scientific editorial practices, considering the following as editorial misconduct:

  1. Text similarity and/or plagiarism
  2. Falsification or fabrication of data
  3. Inclusion of author(s) who have not participated in the research or article preparation process
  4. Exclusion of author(s) who have participated in the research or article preparation process
  5. Disregard for the privacy of research participants

If any of these practices are detected during the manuscript review process, TECNIA will take necessary actions in accordance with the following regulations of the National University of Engineering: Researcher's Code of Ethics, Sanctions to the Researcher's Code of Ethics, and Rectoral Resolution R. S. 1829-2018 "Review of the authenticity of research papers, theses, and professional sufficiency works."

Process for Reviewing the Originality of Articles Submitted to TECNIA

TECNIA receives original research articles in the scientific and academic areas covered by the journal. In this regard, each manuscript will be pre-evaluated using plagiarism detection software.

In cases where the above-mentioned editorial misconduct or other practices that raise reasonable and documented doubts about the originality of the article are found, the process will be as follows:

  1. The manuscript will be rejected with a prior report from the TECNIA Associate Editor, attaching documentation supporting the analysis as a basis for the decision.
  2. The author is notified accordingly.
  3. The author has a period of two weeks (15 business days) to provide their explanations.
  4. These explanations will be attached to the Associate Editor's report for submission to the relevant legal authorities.

Publication Ethics Statement

TECNIA relies on COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics), Codes of Conduct, and Good Practice Guidelines.
