Green's function method and its application in physics
Abstract
The Green function method is a very important mathematical device in today's physics. With the help of the Green function, we can transform differential equations into integral equations, which are easier to be solved with the application of perturbation theory. The expression of the Green function depends not only on the differential equation but also on the initial and boundary conditions. Therefore, we can obtain different expressions of the Green function for the same different equation. By giving the right physical interpretation, we will be able to get a criterion for choosing the Green function with which we can solve the equation for a given case.
