Evaluation process

When an article is sent through the OJS-UNI system, the editorial process begins with its formal review, which includes:

  • Compliance with format guidelines

To prevent the articles from containing errors in the logical sequence of presentation according to the journal's criteria, such as omissions in the methodology, results and discussion, a stage of evaluation of compliance with the format has been included in each article. You can view the evaluation template here.

Evaluation through the URKUND system of the level of similar and equal elements present in the submitted article that have not been correctly referenced and that constitute plagiarism.

This evaluation is independent and rigorous. From the report generated by the system, if it is found that there is a high percentage (>10%) of non-original elements within the article, the General Editor is suggested to reject the article.

TECNIA defines plagiarism as the appropriation, presentation as one's own or use of another's intellectual material, without due explicit recognition of its original source. In this sense, IECOS Magazine includes in its checklist prior to sending the article, the suggestion of taking the online course "RESPONSIBLE CONDUCT IN RESEARCH" developed by the Andean Center for Research and Training in Informatics for Global Health of the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia.

Peer Review

Once the originality evaluation stage of the article has been passed, your article will be evaluated by external peers in the blind peer review modality, in which only the identity of the reviewers is kept secret, even after the publication of the article. article.

Once the article is assigned for evaluation, the process will take no less than 8 weeks. The evaluation card can be consulted here.

Selection of evaluators

The chosen evaluators will be specialists in the subject and of recognized academic prestige (master's or doctorate) in the subject area of the article, with experience in research and with articles published in Peruvian and foreign scientific journals. Also, they do not belong to the magazine.

Assessment

The evaluators send through the OJS system, the technical evaluation of the article, suggesting the following actions to be taken:

Accept Submission: It is suggested to accept the article in its current state for publication.
Publishable with modifications: it is suggested to accept the article, after raising the observations indicated in the evaluation.
Resubmit for review: it is suggested that the author evaluate making major changes that could be reviewed again by the same reviewers.
Forward for another publication: it is suggested that the author consider making major and substantive changes to his article.
Not Publishable: It is suggested not to publish the article.

If the case arises that one of the evaluators does not agree with the publication of the article, it will be submitted for review by a third evaluator, whose opinion will serve to settle the discrepancy and make a decision. definitive in consensus with the Editor of the IECOS Journal.

If the opinion of the article recommends some corrections, the author will be responsible for making them, within the period established by the Journal (generally two weeks, 15 business days), and must send the writing by email. If it is not delivered on the stipulated date, the article is not guaranteed to appear in the next issue to be published.
Once the author or author returns the article with the integrated adjustments, these will be verified and, if necessary, they will be sent back to the author, until the document is debugged.
