Towards a new conception of housing in Peru. The contributions of the Corporación Nacional de la Vivienda, 1945-1956

Abstract

The historiography of Peruvian architecture and urbanism is categorical when affirming that the importance of the contribution of Corporación Nacional de la Vivienda is like a turning point in the Peruvian ideas on how to "build city" and therefore a "new society", and also like a laboratory in which "modern" alternatives are sought to "the way of living" through a "new concept of housing". The current text seeks to understand the importance of the actors and the context in which these ideas were conceived and how they were feeding back by themselves, starting from the analysis of the works prepared themselves It also explores the importance that some of them represent, not only at national level, but international level when being understood as paradigms of social housing in Latin America.
