Abstract

The urban expansion increased between 1960 and 1980, and State institutions tried to intervene in solving the dwelling problem, but his performance was minimal compared with private developers and popular growth through invasions. The following text is about the dynamics of urban growth between those two decades in Arequipa, and the performance of the State in promoting housing, focusing on one of the most iconic state interventions and innovative at the time, called "El Conjunto Habitacional Nicolás de Piérola.
