UNI Astronomical Observatory - OAUNI: first light
Keywords:
observatory, astronomy, instrumentationAbstract
We present the progress of the implementation project of the Astronomical Observatory of the National University of Engineering (OAUNI), which includes its first light. The OAUNI has been successfully installed at the headquarters of the Huancayo Observatory in the central Peruvian Andes. To date the phase of
commissioning that includes the fine-tuning of all the instruments that make it up: optical tube, mount
robotics, CCD camera, liter wheel, remote access system, etc. The first light obtained from a stellar field
with all the operational teams it has been quite promising. The next step will be to start the scientific programs
and provide support to the undergraduate courses in observational astronomy currently being developed at the Faculty of
UNI Sciences.
