Application of Cartesian coordinates to Planetary Movement
Keywords:
gravitational forces , planetary momentAbstract
The analysis of the motion of a particle which moves under the action of a gravitational force caused by anotherparticle (which is fixed in the origin of coordinates) is studied in the course of Clasical Mechanics in undergraduate. It is demostraded in this course, using polar coordinates, that the trajectory is a c ́onical and in the case of anelliptical movement (Example: Planetary Movement) one of the focus matches the origin of coordinates. In the present article, the mentioned property will be shown (which is the Kepler’s first law) by an alternativemethod that consists of using cartesian coordinates and concepts of analytical geometry.
