Determination of propane in a continuous flow gas mixture
Abstract
An interferometric system for detection of commercial propane gas is reported in this work. Propane is driven by nitrogen gas through a cell located in the optical path of one of the two main beams on a Michelson interferometer. The phase shift is proportional to the refraction index of the gas mixture inside the cell. Observing the number of interference rings on a screen it was possible to detect the concentration of commercial propane in the mixture.
