This research mainly aims to study and verify the role of the spaces Parque Arauco mall. This integrative capabilities of these spaces, between the mall and the city will be analyzed (1982 to 2011), which involves an assessment of the most important stages of their renovations.
However, the gaps, by its nature or functionally non-spatial the mall or outside public space. However, it is observed that these have some degree the first functional parentage and therefore can be defined as gaps commercial. Thus, the space changes its form and function, but retains intrinsic character that defines it as such.
The relationship between the city and the mall is a continuous transformation ratio (infrastructure, sales systems), so the gaps are also transformed. Thus changes its form and function but retains its intrinsic character intermediate.
The analysis method used to analyze the various degrees of integration (mall-space intermediate-city) is to Kevin Lynch, which uses 5 basic elements that are part of the urban image: paths, edges, nodes, the neighborhoods and landmarks. Varying degrees of integration and the resulting relationships between the mall, the space and the city are observed.
