Population and territory of the city of Piura. Socio-spatial approach to the development of a Peruvian city
Keywords:
Piura, human activity location models, spatial analysisAbstract
In this article, the author analyzes the origins and causes of the spatial arrangement of the population in the city of Piura in 1993. By studying the population of the city, according to the variables related to its origin, education, occupation, wealth and age, it was determined that the population can be classified into three groups distributed in rings around the center established by its Spanish foundation. Trying to get the answer from theoretical models, it follows that the models describe similar situations, but do not say anything about the ring formation with different social groups. Encouraged by Paul Krugman, who calls in his reflections on the location of human activities to look back at the Von Thünen model, in this article the author tries to find the specific reasons for this distribution.
