Urban quality in question. About the neighborhood of Santa Beatriz

Abstract

This article offers a reflection about the nature of the city that is now being built, through a critical approach to the changes that the Urbanization Santa Beatriz at El Cercado de Lima district is experiencing due to the recent real estate boom, promoted by an investment facilitating State and avidly harnessed by real estate agents. Lefebvre's ideas about social space, production of space and the right to the city present a substantial vision which is a contribution to the understanding of the contemporary urban phenomenon, that is used as theoretical framework. This is a proposal for reflection which intends to be taken into account in future researches on this topic.
