Keywords:
settlement, urbanism, history, AntioquiaAbstract
This work is focused in the urban process of settlement and transformation of the former province of Antioquia during the Nueva Granada viceroyalty (currently Republic of Colombia) during 1775-1826. The investigation was based on works done by several historians about political, economic, social and territorial aspects and also by reviewing the new and old primary and secondary sources. The flashback to this period is to ask for the characteristics of the urban models and settlement used in the region in those years. The aim was to determine the prevalence of certain rules inherited from the "Indian laws" as well as the regional influence of the ones introduced by the Bourbon reformist policies (Illustrated). This period is considered a crucial point for experimentation and definition of the models that result in the so called "Antioquia colonization"; one of the most fundamental processes Colombian settlement history of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century.
