Cultural landscapes: between heritage protection and territorial management

Landscape is getting greater importance among public policies. Nevertheless, the management category is not clear yet due to its own nature. The cultural area adopts the category of cultural landscape which means to classify a territory as heritage. This change in the territorial scale rise the need for reflection about some questions: what do we protect, how do we protect it and which are the effects on the territorial dynamics.
In Peru, the introduction of landscape in the public policies sphere and, specifically, the cultural landscape has yet to deal with a lot of regulations, a still fragile experience of management and absolute weakness in territorial policy matters. All this shows the limitations to reach an agreement about the territory model we want
