The public spaces of the Inner city of Lima built between the first half of the nineteenth century and the second half of the twentieth century, became an important issue in the creation of an urban identity of the city of Lima. However, they have not been studied as elements of a determined urban project or as an specific concept of urban renewal. The present article analyses both dimensions of Lima's urban transformation that took place during Federico Elguera's Major Administration.
