The Declaration of ethics and malpractice of research at the National University of Engineering is based on the regulations of the Researcher's Code of Ethics, Sanctions to the Researcher's Code of Ethics and the Rectoral Resolution R.S. 1829-2018 "Review of authenticity of the works of investigation, thesis, works of professional sufficiency for the sustenance of the same in pregraduate and postgraduate" that guide the actions of the IECOS Magazine.

 


The importance of the ethical conduct of the participants in the journal's editorial process shows the journal's commitment to COPE (Comité de Ética de Publicaciones), whose commitment is to move the editorial culture towards better ethical practices in its Code of Conduct and Best Practices document. : Guidelines for Journal Editors and the Principles of Transparency and Best Practices in Scholarly Publishing

 


-Journal policies on authorship and contribution

Each investigation has one or more authors, those who have participated in the research product and who, according to the editorial process, will be published in future issues. The IECOS Magazine has a form that must be completed in the format and is in the initial part of it; Thus, the degree of contribution of each author is recognized and the personal data will be used for the editorial process.

Each author has internal roles in the participation of the work to be published, those roles are: Participation in the design, information gathering, analysis and development of the research, writing, verification of the final version, etc.

 


-Management of the magazine on complaints and appeals

IECOS Magazine manages its own communication policies between the different users, so virtual communication through emails is preferred.

These complaints or appeals arise from the disagreement that having author-reviewer, reviewer-editor, author-editor, author-editorial committee, and vice versa respectively.

 


-Journal policies on conflicts of interest/competing interests

Conflicts of interest mean that the final product, in this case the article to be published, is affected by the components involved in the editorial process: reviewers, editors, authors, among others; and the result of these conflicts produce a lack of objectivity, foundation and quality.

 


These conflicts affect the professional and institutional relationship, and loss of moral and ethical values. So in order to collaborate with the transparency and professionalism of the editorial process, some requirements that those involved must manifest are going to be specified:

 


Authors:

The authors will have to complete the License Agreement/Declaration of authorship where it specifies the acceptance of authorship and permissions to manipulate the document to the IECOS Journal. In addition, within the aforementioned document, it must be declared if there are sources of financing, since the indirect participation of other organizations can affect or benefit them, thus avoiding conflicts of interest.

If there are no conflicts of interest, they must be declared.

 


Editors and Reviewers:

The policies of the editorial committee of the IECOS Journal declare their commitment to continue or withdraw the acceptance of the management of the article, if necessary and avoid conflict of interest.

In the same way, the reviewers assigned to each article must inform the editors of their participation in the evaluation of the article. If in case the editorial committee observes any review without foundation, another reviewer is assigned to avoid fraud. These frauds may be to the personal relationships between reviewers-authors.

 


-Policies on data sharing and reproducibility

By accessing the personal account of the Open Journal System platform, and later assigning the main author to upload the article, authorization is requested for the use of metadata that will follow the editorial process as it promotes greater solidity, transparency and reproducibility and the replicability of the results.

In addition, this process promotes the visibility of authors by obtaining citations for published articles.
